Hitler & WWII
"Bates farouches de faim fleuves tranner:
Plus part du champ encontre Hister sera,
En cage de fer le grand fera traÅ’ner,
Quand rien enfant de Germain observer."
ferocious with hunger will swim across the rivers,
greater part of the army will be against Hister.
The great one will cause him to be dragged in a cage of iron,
when the German infant observes no law.
Beasts ferocious with hunger (suggesting Adolf Hitler and the German army) will swim across rivers (and borders), the greater part of the army (suggesting the French and Allied armies) will be against Hister" (a clever allusion to Adolf Hitler). Nostradamus misspelled Hitler's name by one letter. This is one of his remarkable name choices which most people agree is far beyond just coincidence. Perhaps Nostradamus is teasing us here. "The great one (suggesting the Allies) will cause him (Hitler) to be dragged in a cage of iron when the German infant (Hitler and Nazism) observes no law.
